The Hub

The company behind the courses

We make recorded courses for school teachers, built around the problems teachers actually describe, and we are straightforward about what a recorded course can and cannot do.

Who we are

Learning & Teaching Hub is a company registered in England and Wales. It makes recorded courses for teachers in schools.

There is no live classroom, no tutor and no marking: you watch short lessons when it suits you, try the ideas in your own planning and come back to them when you need them. Our legal details are in the Terms.

What we publish

11 courses on four shelves

  1. Starting out

You are new, or newly in charge of a class, and the first terms feel like a lot.

    3 courses
    262 lessons · 77 h 34 min

  2. Sharpening the craft

The basics hold. Now you want lessons that do more, for less of your evening.

    4 courses
    180 lessons · 44 h 24 min

  3. Reaching every pupil

The room is mixed. Some pupils need more than the plan gives them.

    2 courses
    120 lessons · 30 h 24 min

  4. Leading others

You are about to be responsible for other adults' practice as well as your own.

    2 courses
    144 lessons · 46 h 8 min

How a course is built

Four steps, in this order, every time

  1. Research

Every course starts as a sentence a teacher would say in the staffroom. We write down what should be different on a Monday morning if the course works, and we read the published research and official guidance that bear on it.

  2. Script

Each lesson is written out in full before anyone switches on a camera. One idea to a lesson, short enough to watch in a free ten minutes, with a practice task that happens in your own planning.

  3. Film

We film at a desk and in classrooms, using worked examples rather than slides about theory, so you see the technique being done and not only described.

  4. Review

Before a course is published it is watched from the first lesson to the last, and checked against what we say about it: every outcome promised on its page must be one the lessons actually teach.

What we promise

  1. We say where the limits are.

No live teacher, no marking, no downloads. A recorded course cannot replace your school’s induction or a SENCo’s advice, and we say so on the page where you decide.

  2. We do not claim approval we do not have.

Our courses are not an accredited qualification and no outside body has endorsed them. What you receive is the Hub’s own certificate of completion, described as exactly that.

  3. The price you see is the price you pay.

Prices are shown with taxes included. There is no second figure waiting at the end of checkout.

  4. Your access is not rushed.

Every course you buy stays available for 24 months, so you can watch when your term allows, and return to a lesson when the situation comes round again.

Ask us anything before you buy

We answer in working hours, usually within one working day.

  • The chat

Use the speech bubble in the corner of any page. A person from the Hub replies there, and if you leave before we do, add your email and we will write to you.
